Last Wednesday the Norwich office team volunteered at Norwich Foodbank Warehouse, run by the Trussell Trust (Norwich Foodbank | Feeding Local People in Crisis). The event was organised by Charlotte Walker, Commercial Assistant (OPCG) who started a foodbank collection from the Norwich office and has delivered the donated supplies to the food bank warehouse throughout the year.
The team arrived by 9:30am and received a short briefing session on the foodbank, the organisation of the warehouse and how we would help.
We worked until 1pm (with only one tea break!) unpacking food donations, sorting packets, tins and bottles onto the racking and then packing up boxes for singles, couples or families who would later collect the parcels from depots across the county. We were surprised by the amount of food donated to the warehouse which shows that the foodbank is unfortunately much needed in the area.
Keith the foodbank Warehouse Manager commented that “it was a pleasure to have your group and as I said on the day, we have set ourselves up for a good November leading into our busy December period.”. We really appreciate the efforts of Karen, Charlotte, Harika, Veronica, Joe, James, Lukasz, Carole, Sotiri and Tim (L-R below) who definitely earnt their pizzas at the end of the session!
