The first Cardio-vascular publication using data from OPCRD has just been published in ‘Heart’. The objective of the paper was to look at whether β-blockers are under used for patients with COPD suffering with heart failure.
In total it was found that only 22% of patients with Heart Failure and COPD were taking β-blockers and either ACEI/ARB, while that number was 41% if the patient only had Heart Failure.
This data indicated a substantial unmet need for patients with COPD who should be prescribed β-blockers more often for concomitant Heart Failure.
